Life Messages: Write Them, Lest They Forget

March 17, 2017   •   Posted under: Lifestyle, Relationships, Community

I’m running some ads on Facebook for my blogging platform Silvrback, one of which reads as follows:   “In living, our stories are made. In writing, our stories are remembered. Write them, lest they forget.” I like that.   I’ve been thinking about, and intending to write about, legacies for some time now. In part, it is to be an article about blogging and how it is…

Working Out My Plan B

August 07, 2016   •   Posted under: Mind, Finances, Lifestyle, Relationships, Community

My wife and I spent three weeks in Panama this summer. Last summer we did the same in Ecuador. And in January, we squeezed in over a week in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Each was a great visit for us, but in different ways. Investigating warmer environments has been on our agenda as we seek to identify prospective second residences before retirement.   I should make clear that retirement for me is really…

Ashley Madison and the Sins of Men

August 29, 2015   •   Posted under: Mind, Lifestyle, Relationships, Community

So, what’s the problem with that?…

Second Chances

It is clearly past time to put my pinkies to the keyboard for 4060men. I see by the date of the last post that it has been over two years since I’ve written here. In fact, I feel a little bit like Neo from the Matrix when he enters the dingy dark room to meet Morpheus for the first time. Remember? Red pill or blue pill. Was definitely not an uplifting environment for a life-changing decision.…

Trying to Have it Both Ways in Midlife

February 06, 2012   •   Posted under: Mind, Lifestyle, Relationships

Midlife men, we probably can’t have it both ways. Let me explain.   I was watching an episode of NCIS this evening, one of my few weekly TV try-to-watch shows, ok, my only weekly try-to-watch show outside of the evening news. Anyhow, this particular show was a bit annoying in its format as it was moving Gibbs, the big cheese of an investigative unit, back and forth from the present to voices…
